This isn't a relaxed reef crawl, it’s a high-energy expedition for divers who want to be right in the mix with the big stuff. We’re heading to the wild coast of South Africa to dive two of the most legendary shark spots on the planet, Protea Banks and Aliwal Shoal. No cages, no fluff, just sharks and the ocean.
Trip Highlights
The Bull Shark Capital: Deep, high-adrenaline drift dives at Protea Banks (30-40m).
The Big Five: High chances for Bulls (Zambezi), Tigers, Hammerheads, Blacktips and Raggies (Sand Tiger).
Wreck & Reef: Explore the MV Produce and SS Nebo between shark encounters.
Ethical Encounters: Expertly managed "scented" dives to bring the action to you naturally.
The Game Plan
Days 1-2: Arrival and Setup
Land in Durban and take the 45-60 minute transfer to Blue Ocean Dive Resort. We’ll get you checked in, gear tagged and ready at the dive center. Meet for a group dinner to prep for the first morning.
Days 3-8: The Diving
Two-tank boat sessions every morning. We’ll spend four days at Aliwal Shoal and two days at the deeper Protea Banks. We stay out on the water for the surface interval to keep the focus on the sharks.
Day 9: Departure or Extension
Transfer back to Durban for your flight home. If you’re not ready to leave, we can help you set up a Safari extension to see the "Big Five" on land.
