Departure from your chosen airport in Scandinavia and fly down to Durban International Airport with one or two stopovers on the way.

Day 2: Aliwal Shoal

We land in Durban after traveling during the night. When everyone in the group has received their luggage, the resort's representative will be waiting for us in the arrivals hall and will take us to our bus that will take us down to Blue Ocean Dive Resort. The transfer takes about 40-60 minutes depending on the traffic and it is a highway basically all the way, so we can expect an easy and smooth transfer.

Once there, the resort's staff is waiting for us and we quickly get access to our rooms where we can check in and make ourselves at home. We also have to check in at the dive center where we get a dedicated place per person to have our diving equipment on. All equipment will also be tagged with our names so that it is easier for the staff to keep track of whose equipment is which when they transport the stuff for us.

After we are checked in and ready, we meet up in restaurants where we enjoy a good dinner together before we crawl into bed and get ready for tomorrow's adventure!

Days 3 – 8: Aliwal Shoal, Protea banks

Finally time for diving!

During these days we will do two dives a day, four of the days we will dive on Aliwal Shoal and two of the days we will go to Protea banks!

All dives take place from rib boats that are put in at the beach and then take us out to the best dive sites. It can be a bit daring to get out of the beach on some days, which invites a little extra excitement - however, the resort's knowledgeable and well-trained staff easily takes us past these in a safe and secure way. The loading points for Aliwal Shoal are about 5 minutes from the resort so it is a short transfer to the beach. Since the dive sites are about 10-20 minutes out by speedboat, we have two tanks out and have a surface interval on the boat between dives. There will be full focus on shark dives during this trip and some of the dives will also be "scented shark dives" which means that they lower containers with sardines in them to attract several different shark species from the area - no feeding, only scent.

The days we are going to dive at Protea banks have a similar setup - the transfer here takes about 40 minutes and then it takes the same way as above.

For those who wish, it is possible to do more dives on Aliwal Shoal on the days we are there if the weather allows - this is decided on the same day when we know the weather conditions.

After 6 days of fantastic shark diving with hopefully many different species cancelled on the list, it is now time to head home again.

We get a transfer back to Durban airport where we then fly back to the respective airport in Scandinavia.

For those who want to extend the adventure and stay longer, it is of course fine. We have a few different packages to choose from if you either want to dive further or if you want to visit one of the nearby safari parks to experience even more of Africa's beauty.
