Meet the Crew at Kalmar Dyk Center.

Savage Travel Co. is a collective of enthusiasts and every tribe needs a home base. For us, that’s Kalmar Dyk Center, a family-run partner where community and quality come first. Located in the heart of Kalmar, they provide a welcoming environment for our members to train, gear up and share the water.

A Passion for the Deep Since 2001

Diving isn't just a business for this crew, it’s a family legacy. With a shared passion that started in 2001, the team has explored every corner of the globe. Two of the family members are seasoned instructors who have worked extensively both in Sweden and internationally, bringing a wealth of real-world experience to every course.

Professional Services for the Savage Tribe

Whether you are a local diver or visiting for one of our expeditions, the center is equipped to support your mission.

All training is conducted according to PADI standards—the world’s largest and most recognized dive organization. As we celebrate PADI’s 60th anniversary in 2026, you can trust that your education is built on decades of safety and innovation.

The coffee is always on and the crew is ready to help you plan your next dive.

Welcome to our home in Kalmar.

Lysekil & Gullmarsfjorden - March 13 – 15, 2026

Lysekil is the undisputed capital for anyone obsessed with the sea. There is a reason the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, major research stations and Havets Hus are all based here. At the center of it all is Gullmarsfjorden, Sweden’s only true threshold fjord.

The unique way the water enters and exits through the outer skerries creates a rich, specialized ecosystem. Here, you’ll encounter deep-sea species that migrate up to diveable depths, offering a window into the deep that you won’t find anywhere else in the country.

The Experience

This is a relaxed, land-based diving weekend designed to explore the rich marine life of Gullmarn and the famous house reef, Släggö. Whether you are here for the unique fjord biology or a Saturday night dive under the stars, the focus is on sharing the water with a like-minded crew.

Diver-Optimized Accommodation

Our base is Hotel Lysekil, which provides a total immersion for the diving community. The hotel is equipped with professional compressors, gas boosters and various gases to ensure your technical needs are met.

  • Facilities: Your stay includes access to drying rooms and workbenches for equipment maintenance.

  • The Rooms: We stay in "diving rooms"—simple, functional accommodations with access to a shared kitchen, laundry facilities and toilets.

  • Logistics: The Släggö house reef is just a short walk away. To make things easy, we have transport boxes (skrindor) available to borrow for moving your gear to the entry point.

Training & Conservation

In conjunction with the trip, you can complete your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. It is the perfect environment to sharpen your skills on deep walls and unique reefs.

Weekend Layout

  • Friday: Departure for the West Coast. We’ll stop for coffee and sandwiches at the halfway mark.

  • Saturday & Sunday: Land-based exploration of Släggö and the best sites in Gullmarn.

  • Saturday Night: Optional night dive to see the fjord’s unique nocturnal life.

  • Sunday: Return journey.

Costs & Logistics

  • Expedition Price: SEK 2,200

  • Expedition + Advanced Course: SEK 5,900

  • Includes: 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfasts, 2 simple lunches (coffee/sandwich) and all air fills.

Note: Participants are responsible for their own transportation (carpooling can be coordinated) and evening meals. Lysekil has a great selection of local restaurants or you can use the hotel’s shared kitchen.

Midsummer at the Weather Islands: Hamburgsund & Väderöarna - June 25 – 28, 2026

Join the Savage tribe for a journey to Hamburgsund, the gateway to Väderöarna (The Weather Islands). Located far out from the mainland, this archipelago offers some of the most specialized and pristine diving in Sweden. Because of their remote position, these islands are exposed to nutrient rich currents that support a unique density of marine life. If the weather keeps us from the outer islands, the inner archipelago provides a sheltered, equally stunning alternative.

The Experience

This expedition is designed for the whole family—non-divers and snorkelers are encouraged to join the crew. We focus on a relaxed atmosphere where enthusiasts can share the water. From our first shore dive on Hamburgerö to the high-energy boat sessions in the outer islands, the mission is about authentic connection with the sea.

Professional Logistics & Technical Support

Our partner, Dyk-Leif, operates two of the best dive boats on the West Coast, both now equipped with heavy-duty lifts to make exiting the water effortless.

  • The Setup: We perform two boat dives daily. To keep things efficient, you’ll need two cylinders. If you’re traveling light, you can borrow an extra 8L/300 Bar or 12L/200 Bar tank from Dyk-Leif.

  • Nitrox: Fills are available for 100 SEK per day (standard uncleaned cylinders), allowing for extended bottom time in these rich waters.

  • Accommodation: We stay in comfortable, hostel-standard rooms. Please bring your own bed linens and towels. The stay also includes access to the Dyk-Leif Spa for a total reset after the day's dives.

Itinerary & Meals

  • Thursday: Arrival on the West Coast. Join us for a celebratory shore dive at Hamburgerö upon arrival.

  • Friday – Saturday: Two boat dives per day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. We eat lunch out on one of the picturesque islands between dives, returning to Hamburgsund around 16:00.

  • Sunday: Two boat dives, with breakfast and lunch included. We head home following the afternoon session.

Costs & Booking

  • Expedition Price: SEK 6,300

  • Include: 3 nights' accommodation, 6 boat dives, air fills, all meals (except Thursday and Sunday dinners), and spa access.

  • Non-Divers: Preferential lower rates are available for family members. Contact us for a quote.

Transparency Note: All bookings, payments and safety protocols are managed through our partners at RIB Diving Services (Kalmar Dykcenter). As a non-profit club, Savage Travel Co. acts as a community coordinator to keep your adventures authentic and at-cost.
