1. Professional Standing and Club Role
Savage Travel Co is a non-profit community project founded by a professional PADI Staff Instructor and Safari/Fishing Guide. While this expertise is used to curate and coordinate high-quality adventures, Savage Travel Co is not a commercial travel agency or tour operator. We act as a coordination hub for our members.
2. Duty of Care and Liability
As a professional-led club, we prioritize safety and expert standards. However:
Peer-to-Peer Planning: When coordinating group trips or private "dream adventures," the founder provides expert guidance and planning, but the legal responsibility for the execution of the trip remains with the local service providers.
Professional Insurance: The founder maintains personal professional liability insurance (e.g., PADI/DAN) for instructional duties. However, this does not replace the need for participants to have their own personal travel and dive insurance.
3. Direct Bookings and The Travel Guarantee
Even though our trips are professionally curated, we do not operate as a "Package Tour" business:
Payments: All payments for internships, lodging, and diving are made directly to the providers (e.g., Deep Blue Conservation, Thonga Trails).
Non-EEA Warning: In accordance with the Swedish Travel Guarantee Act (Resegarantilagen), bookings made with our South African or international partners are not covered by the Swedish state travel guarantee.
4. Professional Fees and Cost-Sharing
Savage Travel Co operates on a non-profit basis.
Group Trips: The founder pays an equal share of all costs. No "professional fee" is added to the group's expenses.
Planning Services: Any small fees charged for "Private Planning" are used strictly to cover the administrative time and costs of organizing the itinerary. This is a hobby-based consultancy service and does not constitute a commercial sale of travel.
5. Training and Qualifications
All PADI courses are officially run through our partner centers (Revsudden Dyk or Kalmar Dykcenter). Instruction is delivered by a PADI Staff Instructor following the strictest PADI/SSDF standards and under the host center's insurance umbrella.
6. Mandatory Participant Insurance
Because we operate professional-level adventures, we require all participants to hold a valid, comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes "Extreme Sports" and "Scuba Diving" coverage, as well as emergency medical evacuation.
